As we approach the end of the year in athletics terms (for reasons that are far too boring to care about, it runs April to March), now is the best time to think about joining up with Dronfield RC.
Anyone who joins the club now will be registered with England Athletics right through to March 2023, a full year and a bit for your £45 annual subscription.
Why would I want to join a running club? I hear you say.
Well, in the preceding 12 months our members have enjoyed:
Weekly training sessions on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening - covering the full spectrum of everything running has to offer - from eye bleeding speedwork to uber chilled group jogs around the majestic peak district, and absolutely everything in between. All of these are lead and delivered by experienced England Athletics qualified run leaders.
Regular group training in the warmth and comfort of the brilliant English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
Free entry to local, regional and national competitions, in Cross Country, Fell, Track and Road - offering everyone the chance to represent Dronfield RC in relays and team events, all paid for by the club.
Internal handicapped, divisional and weighted club competitions and championships, offering everyone the chance for extremely good natured competition with their clubmates on an even and inclusive footing.
Regular social gatherings - including several parkrun 'takeovers' and away days as well as non running related socials and nights out (because what's the point of all that sweating if you cant let your hair down from time to time?).
Tasty discounts on all UK Athletics licensed races and at local high street running shops and national web based retailers.
The opportunity to wear the most beautiful vest in the area, proven to reduce race times by as much as 5% (yes, we're biased and some of that sentence may not stand up to scientific scrutiny but if it works for Nike, it works for us).
Why choose Dronfield RC?
We're a fresh, vibrant and young club, managed by a visible team of volunteers who are active on the local running scene and present across everything the club does.
The world of amateur athletics can sometimes be a bit 'stuffy' and stuck in the past and we try to do things a bit differently with a modern twist on traditional values.
We are an ultra inclusive bunch who will welcome and support everyone but we also place a lot of emphasis on self improvement and personal success - setting all of our athletes goals to strive towards and supporting them to be the best they possibly can be.
If you have any questions or queries about joining, then you can get in touch here. Guests are also welcome at any of our club sessions to meet everyone and get a feel for the club before they join - just drop us a message so we know to look out for you and say hello.
