Junior parkrun - your views needed!

Dronfield Town Council is considering approving a junior parkrun at Sindelfingen Park at their next meeting, but needs YOUR VIEWS.



We think junior parkrun is a brilliant way to keep children aged 4-14 active in a fun, free and inclusive way.


They happen on Sundays at 09:00 and most runners complete the 2km course in 20 minutes. They are managed by volunteers who follow parkrun UK's policies and procedures. We expect about 40 children to take part.


We believe Sindelfingen Park is a perfect location for the events. This is because:

  • It is a central park with a catchment area allowing for people to walk to the event

  • It has almost 100 car parking spaces

  • It is all tarmac paths ensuring the event is accessible during all weathers

  • It is a large park allowing for a varied course

  • It is already an established park with a high-quality play area


We have heard concerns about parking and impact on local residents and have a number of mitigations already in place.

We have secured car parking by the pharmacy, with almost 40 spaces. There are a further 50 spaces in car parks directly next to the park. We will have car park marshals to make sure people park in the spaces we have for them. We believe a lot of participants will walk to the park.


As for noise, we will not be playing music or using speakers. We will have a start and finish line in the middle of the park and away from homes. The event starts at 09:00 and will be completely finished and signs packed away by 09:30.



The park will remain open for dog walkers, children using the play equipment, walkers, just like it is now. The children will share the walking paths and will be told to give way to other park users.

There is zero cost to the council and it will require no public money. We ask for a 12-month licence to use the park, with us speaking to councillors throughout to ensure it is a positive experience for everyone.
